This easy paleo hamburger casserole is a perfect weeknight meal. This casserole is greatly paired with Healthy Big Mac Sauce and it taste just like a Big Mac-but healthier.

I love an easy weeknight meal and this is one of them. This hamburger casserole is quick to put together and can also be meal prepped for the week. The meat combined with all the veggies make this meal paleo and Whole 30 compliant. I also love topping it with my Healthy Big Mac Sauce. This sauce is the best for topping this casserole. I promise this will become an absolute family favorite.

    Ingredients Needed:

    • Ground Beef
    • Tomato
    • Onion
    • Shredded Lettuce
    • Pickles
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Healthy Big Mac Sauce
    • Shredded cheese (optional)

    How to Make

    • Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
    • Step 2: Prepare and cut all veggies. Dice the onion and tomato into one inch chunks.
    • Step 3: On the stovetop, lightly brown the meat adding in the salt and pepper. Drain off any excess fat.
    • Step 4: Combine meat, tomatoes, onions into an 9 x 13 casserole dish and bake for 15 minutes. This should soften the vegetables up and allow the flavors to blend.
    • Step 5: Take out and top with shredded lettuce, pickles and Healthy Big Mac Sauce.
    • Step 6: Serve on buns, wraps or lettuce wraps.

How long does it need to “bake” in the oven? Could I skip this step?

Ideally, 15 minutes is a good time frame to let the vegetables soften so they are not raw. It also allows the vegetable juices to marinate with the meat. This adds to the flavor of the casserole. As long as your meat is cooked you could skip this step if you prefer raw vegetables.

Can I make it a cheeseburger casserole?

Absolutely, if you are not concerned with eating paleo or dairy free, just add shredded cheese before you pop into the oven. This will ensure nicely melted cheese. Then top with lettuce, pickles and sauce.

What can I serve with this paleo hamburger casserole?

We enjoy serving on a bun, a wrap or in lettuce wraps (if paleo). It is perfect with homemade fries, a side of mashed potatoes or a side of vegetables. It can also be put on top of a bed of lettuce and be made into a salad.
