WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS EGGNOG PROTEIN SHAKE
- Creamy and comforting: All the nostalgic flavor of eggnog in a protein rich shake that's light yet satisfying.
- Quick and easy: Ready in less than 5 minutes. Just blend, pour and enjoy!
- Wholesome ingredients: Naturally sweetened, full of clean protein and made with real spices.
- Festive fuel: Keeps you full, energized and in the holiday spirit without the sugar crash.
INGREDIENTS + SUBSTITUTIONS
- Eggnog: This is a no brainer for an eggnog shake but feel free to use your favorite brand or make this shake using your homemade version. If keeping dairy free, use a dairy free eggnog.
- Vanilla protein powder: Using vanilla protein powder gives you the protein you want without sacrificing taste. The vanilla or even an unflavored brand is best to use with the shake. Of course, if you want to mix eggnog and chocolate, give it a try and let me know in the comments what you think. I enjoy using Equip Protein since it's a clean brand.
- Collagen peptides: Unflavored peptides are great for added protein. If you don't have on hand, use an additional scoop of the protein powder. Collagen peptides are great from keeping skin hydrated to improving gut health. Further Foods is a great clean brand.
- Nutmeg and Cinnamon: Both warm spices that are symbolic of eggnog.
- Ice: Optional, but lends to a cold shake that is thickened.

HOW TO MAKE EGGNOG PROTEIN SHAKE
Step 1: Combine the eggnog, protein powder, collagen peptides and ice into the blender.
Step 2: Pulse on medium for 1-1.5 minutes or until mixture is combined.
Step 3: Pour into glass and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon or even top with whipped cream.

EMILY'S TIPS
- Use cold eggnog. This will make the shake creamier and more refreshing. If using homemade, make sure it's been chilled before making the shake.
- Use a high quality protein powder. A smooth neutral flavored vanilla powder like Equip Protein blends best without overpowering the eggnog taste.
- Don't skip the nutmeg. I know some folks are not nutmeg fans but nutmeg is a key spice to give the classic eggnog flavor. I say don't leave it out even if it's just a smidge of sprinkle.
- Blend thoroughly. A high speed blender ensures a smooth, silky texture without any graininess from the protein powder. You might need to let it go longer than a minute if it still seems gritty.
- Adjust the thickness. Add more liquid like a little water for a lighter shake or extra ice for a thicker consistency.
- Make it dessert worthy. Top with whipped cream, or a cinnamon stick for presentation if enjoying with guests.
