Easy and Creamy Easter Fudge (Gluten Free)

Sharing is caring!

Every year I look forward to making this creamy Easter Fudge! It's colorful, festive and the kind of sweet treat that disappears fast from the dessert table. Even better, it's naturally gluten free, so everyone can grab a square and enjoy a little chocolatey indulgence during Easter celebrations.

I think there's something extra special about Easter desserts. Maybe it's the pastel colors, the chocolate eggs or the excuse to indulge in one more sweet bite after a big holiday meal. This Easter fudge recipe checks every box-it's creamy, rich and studded with crunchy chocolate mini eggs that make every bite feel so festive.

One of my favorite thing about this no bake Easter dessert is how incredibly easy it is to make just like my Caramelized Pecan and Sea Salt Fudge. You only need ta handful of ingredients, a saucepan and a little patience while the fudge sets in the fridge. No candy thermometer, no complicated techniques just smooth, melt in your mouth fudge that comes together in minutes.

It's also naturally gluten free, which makes it perfect for sharing with family and friends who need gluten free treats. I love adding this mini egg fudge recipe to our Easter dessert table alongside this Rainbow Fruit Platter and this Gluten Free Carrot Cake Roll.

EASTER FUDGE THAT'S PERFECT

  • Ridiculously easy to make: This recipe uses the classic condensed milk fudge method for a rich, creamy texture without needing candy thermometers or tricky sugar stages.
  • Perfect for Easter celebrations: With pastel sprinkles and colorful chocolate mini eggs on top, this fudge instantly looks festive and cheerful on a holiday dessert table.
  • Naturally gluten free: The base ingredients are chocolate, white chocolate, condensed milk, butter and vanilla which are naturally gluten free.
  • Make ahead friendly: Fudge stores beautifully in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and can even be frozen for several months, making it ideal for prepping ahead of holiday entertaining.
  • Great for gifting: Cut it into neat squares, wrap it in parchment, and tuck it into Easter baskets or treat boxes for neighbors and friends.

INGREDIENTS (AND WHY WE USE THEM)

  • White and dark chocolate: I use both white and dark chocolate as the base because it melts into a smooth, creamy fudge and provides the perfect sweet backdrop for crunchy Easter candies.
  • Sweetened condensed milk: This is the secret to easy fudge. It creates a silky texture and rich sweetness without needing extra sugar or complicated cooking techniques. For a dairy free option use coconut sweetened condensed milk.
  • Butter: I add a little butter for extra richness and to help the fudge set with a smooth, creamy texture. For a dairy free option, use vegan butter or coconut oil.
  • Vanilla extract: A splash of vanilla balances the sweetness and adds that warm bakery flavor that makes homemade fudge irresistible.
  • Gluten Free Mini Egg Chocolates: I fold in crunchy mini eggs for texture and that classic Easter flavor. I only use the Cadbury Mini Eggs and as of current writing these are the only ones I know on the market that are gluten free. These eggs are not labeled specifically gluten free but they don't contain any gluten ingredients. I found this article very helpful in using this brand for this recipe Are Cadbury Eggs Gluten Free?
  • Easter sprinkles (natural/non-dye): I love topping the fudge with naturally colored sprinkles for a festive finish without artificial dyes.

VARIATIONS FOR MINI EGG FUDGE

Once you master the base recipe, you can easily customize it. Here are some ways:

  • Cookies and Cream: Add chopped gluten free Oreos.
  • Chocolate Swirl: Swirl melted dark chocolate into the white chocolate base.
  • Peanut Butter: Stir in ½ cup peanut butter for a creamy peanut butter twist.
  • Pastel Sprinkles: Add extra pastel sprinkles throughout the fudge mixture for more color.
  • Easter basket: Mix in chopped chocolate bunnies, jelly beans or pastel candies.

EMILY'S TIPS FOR EASTER FUDGE SUCCESS

  • Line your pan with parchment paper. This is so important so the fudge lifts out of the pan easier once it sets.
  • Melt the chocolate mixture slowly. Heat the chocolate and condensed milk mixtures over low heat or in short microwave intervals to prevent scorching or grainy fudge.
  • Stir the mixture constantly while melting. I make sure to continuously stir since this helps everything melt evenly and prevents the chocolate from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • Let the fudge set properly. I advise to let the fudge chill for at least 2 hours but up to 5 is ideal in the refrigerator to firm up completely. Nobody wants runny fudge.
  • Use a warm knife for clean slices. Running your knife under hot water first then wiping it dry helps create smooth edges.

STORAGE INFORMATION

  • Refrigeration: Place in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks. Be sure to separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Freezing: Easter fudge freezes so well! Wrap the entire slab or individual pieces in plastic wrap, then aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. Place inside a freezer safe bag or airtight container for 2-3 months. To thaw, transfer to the refrigerator overnight or allow to sit at room temperature until soft enough to cut.

RECIPE FAQ'S + TROUBLESHOOTING

What is the best brand of gluten free mini egg chocolates to use?

The Cadbury Mini Eggs milk chocolate do not contain any gluten ingredients. They are not certified gluten free but I have enjoyed them without issue.

What size pan should I use?

I like using an 8x8 or a 9x9 square pan to get nice thick fudge squares.

Why didn't my fudge set?

The most common cause is too much liquid or not enough chocolate. Fudge relies on the ratio of condensed milk to chocolate to firm up properly. If your fudge stays soft, refrigerating it longer or briefly freezing it can help.

Why did my fudge turn grainy?

Grainy fudge usually means the chocolate overheated. Melt everything slowly and remove from heat as soon as it becomes smooth.

Why are my mini eggs melting in the fudge?

The fudge mixture was likely too hot. Let it cool slightly before adding the candies so they stay intact.
