INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED
- Eggs: The star of the show. These are the foundation to a frittata.
- Ground Maple Sausage: This sausage is savory with a touch of sweetness. Local farm raised is our go to but there are some great brands of maple sausage in the store too.
- Bacon: The salty flavor pairs so well with sausage.
- Yellow Onion: The onion blends well with everything in the frittata as the caramelized flavors are brought out.
- Heavy Cream: Gives the eggs a fluffy texture and helps to not dry the eggs out.
- Cheddar Cheese: Shredded cheddar cheese adds a sharp and creamy flavor.
- Spinach: Fresh spinach has a mild and sweet taste.
- Spices: Garlic, salt and pepper bring out all the flavors.

SUBSTITUTIONS
- Meat: Instead of sausage or bacon, you can use diced ham or turkey.
- Cheese: You can use mozzarella, monterey jack, pepper jack or a mexican blend of shredded cheese. If trying to make dairy free, a shredded vegan cheese.
- Cream: Half and half will work for this recipe. Coconut cream is best for a dairy free dish.
- Veggies: For more veggies, you can add in diced tomatoes, diced potatoes or sliced mushrooms.
- Spices: You can switch these up depending on what you like. Have fun with it.
EXPERT TIPS
- Don’t over mix the eggs. Just whisk them until they are evenly combined. You don’t want the frittata to end up dense but to be light and fluffy.
- Pat down bacon and sausage after cooking to remove any excess grease. Excess grease will cause the frittata to become soggy and not taste well.
- When reheating leftovers, it is best to reheat in the oven not the microwave. The microwave can make the eggs soggy.
