Description

Perfect for any Red, White and Blue celebration this summer. This American Flag Taco Dip is an easy and delicious appetizer that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (15oz) cans refried beans
  • 1 (8oz) brick cream cheese, softened
  • 1 oz taco seasoning
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups salsa
  • 1/4 sliced green onions
  • 6-8 roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1 slice Jack or Mozzarella cheese (for stars)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (for stripes)
  • 1 cup crushed blue tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Using a 9x13 baking dish, spread the refried beans out evenly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together sour cream, softened cream cheese and taco seasoning then layer on top of beans.
  3. Add the salsa layer, then the shredded Mexican cheese and green onions.
  4. Using a small 1 1/2 inch cookie cutter to cut out 5 stars.
  5. Add crushed blue corn chips to the corner of the dish then add the stars.
  6. Starting and ending with the roma tomatoes, rotate the rows of chopped tomatoes and shredded cheese to form the stripes.
  7. Serve with chips or vegetables!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight containers in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • If you don't have a cookie cutter for the stars, use kitchen scissors to cut out stars from the cheese.
  • Substitute tomatoes for red bell peppers.
