This creamy and fluffy four ingredient chocolate mousse is the perfect dessert for two or to enjoy whenever you need a chocolate fix. This high protein-low carb dessert is absolutely delicious and can be made keto friendly.

    Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate mousse is one of my favorite and easiest no bake desserts to make. There are many variations out there and the version I was introduced too many years ago used an avocado for the base. Now I love avocados but not in chocolate mousse. LOL! This version of chocolate mousse uses 4 simple ingredients and comes together in about 5 minutes. It combines cream cheese, greek yogurt, cocoa powder and powdered sugar to be the perfect dessert for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, date night or anytime you simply want to enjoy a sweet treat. Ingredients and Substitutions

    • Cream Cheese: In this recipe, you are going to whip the cream cheese but you can also buy whipped cream cheese to make it easier. If your wanting to make these dairy-free, just sub out with a dairy-free cream cheese like Kitehill or Miyoko.
    • Greek Yogurt: The yogurt gives it that pack of protein punch. It also helps hold the mousse together while adding to the creaminess. You can sub this out for a dairy free yogurt but may need to add a teaspoon of arrowroot powder to thicken it up.
    • Powdered Sugar: Adds to the fluffy and sweetness of this dessert. You can use a powdered erythritol or allulose to make this dessert keto friendly.
    • Cocoa Powder: The star of the show is the chocolate cocoa! The best to use is unsweetened cocoa powder.

    How to Make

In a medium size bowl, whisk cream cheese with electric hand mixer until nice and smooth.

In same bowl, add in powdered sugar, greek yogurt and cocoa powder and whisk with hand mixer until incorporated.

Let sit in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.

Pour into your favorite jars, glasses, bowls and garnish with fresh fruit, extra cocoa powder or whipped topping to serve.

Tips for the Best Chocolate Mousse

    • Let cream cheese sit out on counter for 30-40 minutes to let soften before whisking. This helps the process go smoothly.
    • This recipe can be made dairy free by using a dairy free cream cheese and dairy free yogurt.
    • This recipe can be made keto if you use a keto friendly powdered sweetner.
    • Add an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder if you want it more chocolatety.
    • Let set in the refrigerator for at least an hour prior to serving. This will help firm up the mousse so it is not runny. If it still appears runny you can add a 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch or arrowroot powder to thicken.
    • Garnish with fresh fruit or whipped topping. This is like icing on the cake!

    Why I Love This Recipe

    • Easy to Assemble: This 4 ingredient chocolate mousse can come together in under 10 minutes and in one bowl. No mess and minimal clean up.
    • Low Carb: No guilt here with this dessert! It is packed with protein and fats that will keep you satisfied for longer.
    • Texture + Taste: This dessert is creamy, fluffy and tastes like a chocolate cheesecake. It will totally satisfy your sweet tooth.
    • Perfect Size: As listed this is a wonderful dessert for two or as a single serving to satisfy a chocolate craving.

    Storage

    • Refrigerator: Place leftover mousse in an airtight sealed container for up to 3 days.
    • Freezer: I DO NOT recommend freezing mousse. It will change the texture.
